A 23-year-old man has been arrested after his grandmother was found fatally stabbed inside her East L.A. home, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced late Monday.

Deputies responded to the victim’s residence in the 100 block of North Gage Avenue (map) at about 11:45 a.m. for a “check the welfare” call and found her dead, a news release from the Sheriff’s Department stated.

The woman, whose identity has not been released yet, had been stabbed multiple times in the upper torso, investigators stated in the release.

Her grandson, Armando Sepulveda, was later arrested on a murder charge, according to officials.

He has been booked at the East Los Angeles Station and was being held on $1 million bail.

No further information was immediately available.
