A pursuit suspect crashed into parked cars and flipped their vehicle while trying to evade officers in Los Angeles early Friday.

The pursuit began around 2:30 a.m. when officers attempted to pull a motorist over for speeding on the 101 Freeway near Burbank, a California Highway Patrol spokesperson confirmed.

The motorist instead led officers on a chase until crashing the car into two parked vehicles in the Pico-Robertson neighborhood on Los Angeles’ Westside.

The pursuit vehicle flipped over a wall and landed against an apartment building before catching fire.

The unidentified suspect suffered minor injuries and was taken into custody, the spokesperson said.

There was no immediate word on whether the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.

No other injuries were reported.

Some residents in the area were without power Friday morning because an electrical panel and a transformer were also damaged in the crash.

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews were on scene and hopeful that power would be restored around 7 or 8 a.m.
