Firefighters were busy across Los Angeles on Thursday night as Fourth of July celebrations got out of hand in several areas.
The L.A. Fire Department responded to a backyard fire in Reseda, where flames quickly spread to multiple cars. People were seen attempting to douse the blaze with water buckets and garden hoses.
No injuries were reported. LAFD hadn’t determined the cause of that fire as of Friday morning.
In Anaheim, a man suffered severe burns to his face after an incident involving fireworks. At around 8:45 p.m. on South Dallas Drive, near Katella Avenue, the man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Witnesses said that he was attempting to light a mortar firework when it suddenly exploded, causing him to fall.
In Northridge, fireworks ignited a fire along a row of cypress trees just before midnight along Paso Robles Avenue. Firefighters quickly gained control of the situation, and no injuries were reported.
A similar situation occurred in Lincoln Heights, where a tree caught fire in a neighborhood, possibly due to fireworks. No injuries were reported.
