The FBI announced this week that the agency has joined the search for a missing Cal State Northridge University student who disappeared last month.
Abdullah Abdullatif Alkadi, 23, was last seen Sept. 17 around noon at his residence in the 9900 block of Reseda Boulevard in Northridge, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department.
An LAPD desk officer told KTLA his family was concerned for Alkadi’s welfare because it was not like him to go “off the grid” and not communicate with them.
The electrical engineering student sold his car the day before he vanished, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Authorities were able to track his cell phone to Riverside County before the signal was deactivated, the Times reported.
Alkadi is of Middle Eastern descent, stands 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs roughly 110 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes, the release stated.
He was wearing a blue shirt, blue jeans and beige shorts when last seen.
The LAPD requested the FBI’s assistance with resources in the search for Alkadi, according to FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller.
Anyone with information was urged to contact Detective Carlton at LAPD’s Missing Persons Unit at 213-996-1800.
