A construction worker was seriously injured in a collapse at a downtown Los Angeles construction site.

The worker, only identified as an adult man, was trapped by debris after an underground stairwell collapsed at 226 W. Olympic Blvd., the Los Angeles Fire Department said in an alert.

Aerial footage from Sky5 showed a major response that included multiple LAFD vehicles.

Though he was “quickly freed from debris on LAFD arrival,” he sustained a “serious injury” and was taken to a local hospital, the release said.

No other injuries were reported.
