Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who left a man to die in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles early Wednesday.

The crash was reported around 1:45 a.m. near West Sunset Boulevard and North Boyleston Street.

A vehicle traveling southbound on Sunset struck a 53-year-old man who was crossing the street, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.

Video showed investigators closing the intersection with police tape where the victim’s shoe was left at the scene.

The unidentified man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not released any information about the hit-and-run vehicle or suspect involved in the incident.
