Ferguson-related protests continued in downtown Los Angeles Saturday, five days after a Missouri grand jury decided not to bring charges against police officer Darren Wilson in the fatal shooting of unarmed teen Michael Brown.

About 35 people gathered outside the Staples Center (map) Saturday afternoon and chanted, “no justice, no peace, no racist police” and “the people united will never be divided.”

No one was believed to be arrested.

At least eight protesters had been arrested in Los Angeles Friday and some 338 were arrested between Monday’s grand jury announcement and Wednesday night — the day before Thanksgiving.

Police said most people had been arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace, and many arrests came after protesters shut down several freeways throughout the week, including about 300 protesters crowding onto the 110 Freeway Monday and others closing part of the 101 Freeway for about 10 minutes Tuesday.

Despite some protesters’ inability to post bail, all of those arrested before Thanksgiving — not including those with outstanding warrants — were released from jail before dinner time, according to Los Angeles Police Department officials.

Saturday’s protest came before an announcement by Wilson’s attorney that the officer had resigned, effective immediately.
