Three others were transported to the hospital in critical condition. At least two of the passengers required extrication, officials said.

Some of the people transported were identified as a 30-year-old woman, an 18-year-old girl, an 18-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy.

A large amount of auto debris was strewn across the roadway, which runs parallel to Dockweiler Beach. The road remains closed as a large law enforcement presence responded to the scene.
