Los Angeles County Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey has asked the city of Compton to hand over important election documents for all its council members after receiving complaints against several public officials.

In a letter dated July 31, Lacey asked City Clerk Alita Godwin to provide copies of candidacy forms and statements of assets and economic interest for the mayor, four council members, city attorney, city treasurer and city clerk dating back to 2004.

In addition, Lacey requested the council agenda and meeting minutes for the appointment of City Atty. Craig Cornwell.

Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for Lacey, would not discuss whether a formal investigation of Compton’s City Hall has been launched.
