A California Highway Patrol officer was injured in a crash Tuesday morning when a vehicle apparently crossed into his lane and clipped the motorcycle he was riding, authorities said.
The crash occurred on the northbound side of the 405 Freeway in Seal Beach at about 6:52 a.m., according to CHP Officer Monica Posada.
The driver of the vehicle was on her way to work when she made a lane change and clipped the motorcycle, according to Officer Willits of the CHP.
The wrecked motorcycle could be seen lying on its side in the middle of the freeway while medical personnel cared for the injured officer, aerial video from Sky5 showed.
The officer’s injuries weren’t life-threatening, but he was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, according to Posada.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the motorcycle was not injured, Willits said.
No arrests were made and the driver was allowed to continue on to work, according to Willits.
The crash forced the closure of several lanes on the northbound side of the 405 Freeway and caused traffic to back up for miles during the morning commute.
