A Chino teen is behind bars after police say he shot his stepfather to death Monday morning.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired just before 9:45 a.m. in the 5700 block of Riverside Drive, and Jakari Curry, 18, was arrested upon the officers’ arrival, the Chino Police Department said in a news release.

Inside the home, officers found 34-year-old Timothy Matthews suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and he was declared dead at the scene.

“The investigation revealed Curry, who is Matthews’ stepson, was involved in a family dispute with Matthews leading up to the shooting,” police said.

Curry is being held without bail at the High Desert Detention Center. He was due to appear in Rancho Superior Court Wednesday morning.
