A Capistrano Valley High School math teacher suspected of “sexting” with a 16-year-old student was arrested at his home in Irvine Monday.

Justin Verducci, 25, was taken into custody after the teenager’s parents discovered several inappropriate text messages on their daughter’s phone and contacted sheriff’s investigators Friday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.

“The text messages were sexual in nature and exchanged between their daughter and Verducci,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.

Verducci, a math teacher at the Mission Viejo school, was arrested for child annoyance and sexual communication with a known minor online.

He was being held on $20,000 bail and was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
