Officials said Saturday three people, including two minors, had been arrested for allegedly robbing a Pico Rivera pet store at gunpoint, making off with $500 and two 10-week-old English bulldogs on Christmas Eve.

Both dogs were safely recovered, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department news release.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery at Mr. Bulldog, located in the 9400 block of Whittier Boulevard (map), around 1:58 p.m. Wednesday, the release stated.

Preliminary information indicated one man had robbed the store at gunpoint and left in a gray BMW sedan driven by an accomplice.

A crime tip and additional investigating led sheriff’s deputies to execute a search warrant Christmas night at a West Whittier home and arrest a juvenile.

Jonathan Mora, an 18-year-old Whittier resident, turned himself into detectives at the Pico Rivera station Friday and was also subsequently arrested. He was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

A female juvenile from West Whittier was also arrested.

A West Whittier resident recovered one of the bulldogs after she found it “wandering in the street.” The second bulldog was returned to the Mr. Bulldog store by an unidentified person Friday.
