A grass fire that was burning along the 5 Freeway in Pacoima was briefly threatening homes in the area Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
The blaze was reported around 2:40 p.m. in the 12900 block of Branford Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
It took crews about 45 minutes to extinguish the flames.
Damage to fencing and patio furniture was reported, but no one was injured, officials said.
Branford Street was closed at the freeway to Laurel Canyon Boulevard amid the cleanup, and motorists were asked to avoid the area.
