An investigation was underway after a body was discovered floating in the lake at MacArthur Park Thursday morning, authorities said.

Fire crews responded around 8:10 a.m. to a reported drowning at the park, which is located at 2035 W. Seventh St. (map) in the Westlake neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to Katherine Main of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The unidentified person’s body was removed from the water and the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office was called to the scene, Main said.

The death was being investigated by LAPD officers who also responded to the park after receiving reports of a body in the lake, according to Officer Liliana Preciado with the Los Angeles Police Department.

No further information was available.
