About 650 High Desert customers are without power Wednesday due to the raging Blue Cut Fire, Southern California Edison said.

Customers in Hesperia, Lytle Creek, Oak Hills, Phelan, Pinon Hills, Victorville and unincorporated San Bernardino County communities were affected, Edison said. Some of the communities affected are under ongoing mandatory evacuation orders.

There is no estimate on when power will be restored, but SoCal Edison said the outage could last several days.

The fire has damaged more than 100 damaged power poles, Edison said. Key transmission and subtransmission lines, as well as substation and distribution circuits, are threatened by the wildfire.

The utility is also helping to reopen the 15 Freeway, which is closed through the Cajon Pass.

Edison warned people to stay away from areas impacted by fire damage and to call 911 if they see downed power lines.

More than 30,000 acres burned within 24 hours due to the fire, which broke out near Devore along the 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. An estimated 34,500 homes have been evacuated as of midafternoon Wednesday.
