The driver of a semi-truck who traveled about 10 miles in the wrong direction on the 210 Freeway was taken into custody in Duarte Friday morning.

The incident was reported just before 1 a.m. when someone spotted the big rig traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes near North Lake Avenue in Pasadena, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Andrew McAllister said.

“The vehicle was reported going about 65 to 70 mph,” McAllister said.

The truck traveled the wrong way for about 10 minutes before officers located it and got into position on the 210 Freeway near Buena Vista Street in Duarte.

“We ran a traffic break and were able to successfully stop the vehicle before any accidents could occur,” McAllister said.

The unidentified driver was detained without incident.

The big rig spent most of its time traveling in the freeway’s carpool lane, McAllister said. “There were no reports of any accidents, luckily.”
