Police were searching for someone who may be armed after responding to reports of battery and a belligerent woman in Cypress Park Friday afternoon, according to officials.

An assault in the 2600 block of Arvia Street (map) was reported to the Los Angeles County Fire Department around 4:09 p.m., department spokeswoman Katherine Main said.

LAFD and the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the situation and a perimeter was established.

The situation was a barricade situation, Main said, but LAPD Officer Nuria Vanegas later said it was not.

Details about what sparked the reports were not immediately known.
