Just days before Christmas, a family is praying for a miracle as a 7-year-old lies in a hospital bed comatose after suffering brain injuries in a devastating car crash in Torrance nearly two weeks ago.
Cole Ziello and his mother were in a crash on Dec. 9 and was unconscious before being resuscitated. He broke his clavicle and the extent of his brain injuries will be unknown until he wakes up.
Cole’s father, Nick Ziello, has stayed by his son’s side at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital since the crash.
“I can’t sleep. I stay at the hospital,” Ziello said. “I know when he wakes up, he’ll be scared so I gotta be there.”
Ziello described his son as being his best friend. He said the boy is considerate and very smart.
He understands that his son will need physical and speech therapy, along with counseling.
“I want him back,” Ziello said.
A YouCaring page has been set up for Cole’s recovery, and more information can be found here.
“Cole is a tough little boy, but he’s gonna need all the love and support he can get to rally through this,” the page reads.
