A body of a 64-year-old man who went to Pyramid Lake with a friend whose lifeless body was pulled from the water four days earlier was discovered found by divers on Wednesday.
Investigators believe both men drowned but said the exact cause of their deaths remained unknown.
Jack Thirasack’s body was found Wednesday morning at the popular boating lake in the Gorman area (map), according tot he Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
On Sunday, deputies had located the body of Rick Tanovan underwater after a man on a jet ski reported “something suspicious” near Chumash Island, a news release from the Sheriff’s Department.
Tanovan appeared to have drowned but the exact cause of death had not yet been determined, authorities said. His fishing line was found near a partially submerged boat about 30 yards from the shore.
Family members told investigators that Tonovan went to the lake with a friend, identified as Thirasack of Baldwin Park, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Divers from the L.A. County sheriff’s and fire departments searched the area for four days, using sonar equipment, watercraft and an underwater cadaver dog.
Thirasack’s his body was found 20 feet from the shore, not far from Tonovan’s body. Like his friend, Thirasack was thought by investigators to have drowned, but an exact cause of death was not announced.
The sheriff’s Homicide Bureau was investigating.
