The westbound 118 Freeway in Simi Valley has reopened after a charter bus crash left five people injured Tuesday morning, officials said.
The crash was reported about 9:05 a.m., on the westbound side of the highway east of Madera Drive, according to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol.
The bus and three other vehicles were involved in the crash and five people suffered minor injures: three on the bus and two from the other vehicles, according to the Ventura County Fire Department. Others declined to be taken to hospitals.
The bus apparently crashed into three other vehicles, according to the Fire Department, but further details about the incident have not been released.
All westbound lanes on the highway were shutdown near First Street after the crash, according to Caltrans. It was reopened about 11:40 a.m.
Aerial video from Sky5 showed firefighters letting passengers off the bus using ladders. Authorities were also setting up a triage area after the crash.
Several rescue vehicles were at the scene following the incident, and traffic was backed up in the area, aerial video showed.
The bus did not appear to have extensive damage, aerial video showed. Another vehicle in the area had extensive damage after the crash.
The charter bus was carrying students from Bakersfield, according to the CHP. Seven adults and 33 minors were on the bus.
