Manuel Leyva, 19, was booked on charges of soliciting sex from a minor and possessing child pornography after turning himself in, sheriff’s officials said. Leyva’s bail was set at $1 million.

The investigation began Friday when a school resource officer contacted authorities after an administrator learned of several possible incidents of solicitation by the former assistant coach, according to the release.

Leyva, who worked for the Moreno Valley School District in 2012 and 2013, used social media to meet and communicate with minors, authorities said. None of the alleged incidents took place on school district property, the release stated.

The Sheriff’s Department indicated there may be more victims. Anyone with information about the incident was urged to call Investigator James Merrill at 951-486-6700.
