Multiple Southern California cities were named as the safest spots in the Golden State, according to a report from SafeWise, a home security review website.
The company recently released its 10th annual Safest Cities report.
Multiple cities named on the list are in Orange County. Cities from San Bernardino and Riverside counties were also named on the list.
No cities from Los Angeles County were named on the list.
“When it comes to safety, daily concern continues to be the California state of mind,” SafeWise writer Rebecca Edwards wrote in the report. “With crime rates that are higher than nationwide averages, it’s not surprising that Californians are among the most concerned about property crime, package theft and violent crime.”
About 50% of Californians surveyed by SafeWise said they felt “a high daily level of concern for their safety,” the site said, noting that was a 19% decline year over year.
About 30% of respondents also said they felt safe in their home state,
The report also found that California had an average rate of 4.2 violent crimes, 25.3 property crimes, 1.7 violent crimes and 12.8 property crimes per 1,000 people.
The report also found that California’s average property and violent crime rates were higher than national averages.
In comparison to other cities in the state, the per capita crime rates in California’s safest cities were significantly lower, with an average of 1.7 violent crimes and 12.8 property crimes per 1,000 people, according to the report.
Utilizing FBI crime statistics, demographic information and the results of its State of Safety research study, researchers determined that these cities were the safest in California.
