A Fresno police officer was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possessing child pornography, authorities said.

Jeffrey Logue, 44, of Fresno was arrested at police headquarters and booked into jail on $20,000 bail, according to statement from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

He was arrested by members of the Central Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force following a tip, the Sheriff’s Office said.

“There is no evidence at this time to show Logue ever physically abused a child,” the statement said.

Logue is a 17-year veteran of the Fresno Police Department and was assigned to the Homeless Task Force but he was fired Wednesday by Police Chief Andrew Hall, a department statement said.

Hall is “shocked and outraged” by Logue’s alleged actions, the statement said.
