Authorities determined there was no danger at Azusa Pacific University Wednesday night after a bomb threat led to an evacuation of all the Christian college’s campuses earlier in the evening.
Students in on-campus housing, who had been told to shelter in place, were free to resume business as usual, officials said.
Police decided to evacuate all of the college’s campuses following “suspicious messages” including the bomb threat. University officials first announced the threat in a tweet at about 5:40 p.m.
The evacuation order was extended to all the college’s regional campuses, including in Monrovia, Orange County, Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, High Desert, Murrieta and San Diego.
Around 6:30 p.m., Sky5 was overhead as a number of patrol vehicles were parked outside some of the university’s buildings in Azusa. Earlier, police warned of road closures and other delays as officers continued to investigate.
The search was focused on the Azusa campus.
At10:15 p.m., authorities said they’d deemed safe all university residential areas and the East Campus.
Police could still be seen searching the west side of the campus after 10 p.m. in aerial video from Sky5.
But at about 10:35 p.m., officials said there was no longer a threat after they cleared both Azusa campuses, residential areas and other university buildings.
