Two Duarte men were hospitalized in critical condition after they were wounded in a drive-by shooting while sitting in a parked car in Pasadena on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

The attack was reported about 4:10 p.m. along Lake Avenue, between Rio Grande and Elizabeth streets, according to the Pasadena Police Department.

“Preliminary investigation revealed both victims were stopped in their vehicle in the area when a late-model sedan drove behind them and fired multiple times into their vehicle,” police said in a written statement. “The suspect vehicle was occupied by at least two unknown suspects.”

Police described the victims as a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old man. Both are Duarte residents.

A motive for the shooting was not clear Saturday, but police said it did not appear to be random.

No further details were available.
