Tuesday is World Spay Day, an event started by 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s actress and singer Doris Day. She founded Spay Day USA with her Doris Day Animal League.
Lucy Pet Foundation is partnering with The Rescue Train, a non-profit no-kill animal welfare organization to spay and neuter approximately 30 animals.
The surgeries are being performed by Dr. Kwane Stewart, CNN’s Hero of the Year, known as “The Street Vet” and Dr. Shadi Ireifei of VetTriage, who is flying in from Las Vegas for this event.
