Descanso Gardens officials say “SPRING HAS SPRUNG” at what they describe as a botanical garden, living museum and urban oasis. In 2021 Descanso Gardens was listed in the National Register of Historic Places.   

The Descanso Gardens webpage bloom calendar indicates the 150 acres of cultivated and wild land location is coming alive with color including the tulip area.

Mother Nature is putting on a show at the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. 55-acres of radiant rows of Ranunculus flowers are in bloom for approximately six weeks to eight weeks on the rolling hills of North San Diego County. theflowerfields.com website says all tickets must be purchased online. The website suggests checking the bloom status before visiting. The website also reminds guests pets, drones, balloons, and bicycles are not permitted.

Time is running out to explore the powerful and educational exhibition VALOR AND VIRTUE: JEWISH AMERICAN MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENTS. The Costa Mesa Heroes Hall exhibit spotlights all 18 Jewish American Medal of Honor recipients with displays of their personal items, uniforms, letters and medals. This weekend The Wall That Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial along with a mobile Education Center, makes its first stop on its journey across the United States in Baldwin Park.

The Wall honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War. It bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

The Wall That Heals open and free to all visitors until Sunday at 2 p.m. The it travels to El Cajon.

This art piece is titled “Soy la Desconocida,” a pastel on paper by artist Judithe Hernandez, a founding member of the Chicano Art Movement. Just in time for Women’s History, a first retrospective of artist Judithe Hernandez is being presented at the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum. The riversidemuseum.org website says this first of its kind exhibition features more than 80 of her works of art. Ticket information is on the website.

That’s Phyllis Magee of Magee’s Kitchen talking about St. Patrick’s Day at the Original Farmers Market at Fairfax and Third. Magee’s Kitchen, the Farmers Market’s FIRST EATERY, is famous for its St. Patrick’s Day Special of Corned Beef, Cabbage, and Potatoes. The farmersmarketla.com website says in addition to Magee’s Kitchen, Glen the Bagpiper will be strolling the market. The Merry Minstrels will be performing their traditional Irish folk music on the East Patio. And, green beer, Guinness and other imported Irish beers will be on tap at E.B’s Beer & Wine and Bar 326.
