Camellias!. They are described by gardening experts as one of the best flowering shrubs, nicknamed the Queen of Winter Flowers. They are blooming at Descanso Gardens in La Canada – Flintridge. The descansogardens.org website says visitors their history and how to grow your own.
And the Queen of Winter Flowers are blooming in San Marino at The Huntington. The huntington.org website says its botanical collections include nearly 80 different species.

Also at The Huntington, the Bonsai-a-Thon. The Bonsai Collection at The Huntington is described as one of the largest and finest public masterpiece collections in the United States.
So, Southern California bonsai masters are here to share their passion for the art form at this special event that includes exhibits, demonstrations, prize drawings, a bonsai marketplace, and a live auction at 2:30 p.m.
Proceeds support the Golden State Bonsai Federation Collection at The Huntington.

This is Black History Month, an appropriate time to examine “The Negro Motorist Green Book” a Smithsonian touring exhibition that illustrates the perils of driving while black during the mid-19th century.
This special exhibition also contains interactive video component providing a realistic experience of the dangers of driving while black.

That’s puppeteer Bob Baker, the creator of the oldest children’s theater company in Los Angeles. His legacy lives on with the Bob Baker Marionette Theater classic “Magic Strings.”
“Magic Strings” debuted in 1970. The bobbakermarionettetheater.com website says this new show includes “multi-screen archival footage of Bob Baker from interviews, demonstrations, and more, revealing to the audience the true magic of marionettes.”
Tickets are available through Sunday, April 7th.
