Black Excellence Is In Our Blood
Honoring American Red Cross History Makers
*Dr. Charles Drew
*Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune
*Dr. Jerome Holland

redcrossblood.org/OurBlood
This Black History Month, the American Red Cross commemorates Black History Month honoring Dr. Charles Drew and other trailblazers important to American Red Cross history.
The nonprofit also honors abolitionist and author Frederick Douglass, who escaped slavery to support Clara Barton, the founder of the American Red Cross, and help establish the organization.
And the Red Cross salutes Howard University. The historically Black university formed its Red Cross Unit March 1917 with the leadership of Red Crosser Hallie E. Queen in order to support African American soldiers at Fort Meade.
We’re invited to celebrate those accomplishments by donating blood and plasma this month during the current emergency blood shortage.
To find a donation location near you, go to the redcrossblood.org/ourblood website.
Give blood, platelets or plasma this month, the American Red Cross will mail you a $20 Amazon.com Gift Card.
