LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — A group of kids ran the final mile of the ASICS L.A. Marathon Sunday, as part of a school program highlighting physical fitness and nutrition.
Five thousand students out of a total of 25,000, who have been involved a training program, converged at Dodger stadium to participate in the event.
The training program runs 8-10 weeks in schools.
“The key of the program is to do it in school, because we have amazing resources with the teachers, who are passionate about their profession.
They know that kids need activity, they need nutrition education and we’re getting these kids ready for the rest of their lives,” said Rod Dixon, who started the KiDSMARATHON Foundation.
The kids, dressed in matching t-shirts, each received a metal after finishing their marathon.
