Days after Kendrick Lamar dropped the music video to his hit song “Not Like Us” many are trying to see Compton’s well-known eatery Tam’s Burgers No. 21.

The family-owned staple has reportedly seen a big boost in business after it was heavily featured in the video.

The restaurant’s manager Lauro Hernandez and his son Bryan Noe told TMZ that they’ve seen a huge increase in sales following the July 4 release of the “Not Like Us” video. The two men say sales are up 30 to 40%.

It’s ironic that a song sparked from a rap beef between Lamar and Toronto rapper Drake has increased the sales of beef.

Lauro told the outlet that fans have been ordering the bacon cheeseburger, which is a known favorite of the “Humble” rapper.

The “Not Like Us” video is a love letter to Los Angeles and celebrates the 17-time Grammy winner’s hometown by highlighting local landmarks like Compton Civic Plaza along with Tam’s Burgers.

Lamar has long expressed his love for the establishment as well as his home turf.

About 12 years ago, he told Complex that he preferred a burger from Tam’s over a certain California favorite.

“Everybody loves In-N-Out, but it’s a very clean-cut burger. Tam’s is street-sloppy, burgers and shakes. It’s a chain, but it’s still hood,” he explained.

In his song “Element” from the 2017 album “Damn” he rapped: “I be hangin’ out at Tam’s, I be on Stockton. I don’t do it for the ‘Gram, I do it for Compton.”

In 2022, Tam’s appeared on the national stage when Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre recreated the restaurant’s sign for their Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show performance at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium.

K. Dot released the single “Not Like Us” in May during a days-long back-and-forth with Drake. The two men traded blows by releasing multiple diss tracks, one after another.

KTLA 5 has reached out to the owner of Tam’s Burgers No. 21 for further confirmation on the sales numbers but has not heard back.
