Micah Ohlman

Micah Ohlman is an anchor on the award-winning KTLA 5 News at 6, 6:30, 10 and 11 on weeknights.

Over the past 17 years, he has become a fixture in Los Angeles television news, having developed a reputation as an exceptional breaking news anchor and reporter.

Micah, who’s won 10 Emmy Awards and two Golden Mike Awards, has anchored extensive live coverage of virtually every major Southern California story over the past 17 years, nurturing a sense of trust, confidence and credibility among viewers.

Micah has anchored KTLA’s Election Night coverage for the past five election cycles.

Beginning on New Year’s Day 2010, and continuing every year since, Micah has co-hosted coverage of the Rose Parade. The broadcast is seen locally on KTLA, as well as across much of the U.S. and in more than 40 countries around the world — coverage that earned Micah an Emmy in 2011.

In October 2007, during one of California’s most destructive firestorms, Micah anchored KABC-TV’s marathon coverage for more than eight hours, his calm demeanor reassuring viewers as several wildfires burned simultaneously across Southern California, consuming more than half a million acres and more than 1,500 homes.

Micah’s passion for storytelling has taken him around the world. In 2005, Micah traveled to Vietnam, following two locals who were among a group of 21 Vietnamese American adoptees returning to their homeland for the first time since the fall of Saigon in 1975. His three-part series on the emotional homecoming, as well as a revealing look at the reality of the human condition in a country still working to recover from its war-ravaged past, earned Micah an Emmy nomination.

Micah also reported live from the scene outside Washington, D.C., for several weeks during the “Beltway Snipers” reign of terror in October 2002. Micah also delivered live reporting from the nation’s capital during the state funeral for President Ronald Reagan.

Prior to his arrival in Los Angeles, Micah worked as an anchor and reporter for the NBC-owned television station WTVJ-TV in Miami. During his time there, Micah delivered extensive live coverage from the scene of the 2000 presidential election meltdown marred by hanging chads. Micah began his career at KULR-TV in Billings, Montana. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Micah is active in the community and sits on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Southern California.

Micah has appeared in TV shows such as “The Closer” and “Goliath.” He also had a role in the movie “Aquaman.”

He is married with three children.
