Jasmine Simpkins

Jasmine Simpkins is a TV host, reporter and film critic. A native of Los Angeles, Jasmine began her journey as a journalist back at UCLA where she began writing for the Daily Bruin.

After college, Jasmine’s enthusiasm for reporting and her stellar work ethic landed her a managing editor position with L.A. FOCUS newspaper. There she honed her writing and reporting skills covering local news, politics and entertainment.

Her thought-provoking interviews and ability to break stories would later garner the attention of the Starz network, who was looking for a LA-based reporter and producer to host their entertainment interstitials. At Starz Jasmine was also called upon to report on breaking news and produce original programming including the documentary “11-04-08: The Day of Change” chronicling the day Barack Obama was elected President of the United States.

After leaving Starz she was hired by AOL as a segment producer and reporter for the Jonas Brothers-founded site Cambio.

From 2012 to 2016 she became the host and producer for TV One’s daily entertainment news segments and was also a contributor on “News One Now” with Roland Martin. During that time she also became a regular guest on CNN and HLN sharing her opinion on pop culture and current events.

In 2016 she was hired as the senior reporter and correspondent for Kevin Frazier’s entertainment news site HipHollywood.com. There she covered film junkets, premieres and award shows.

She joined the Nexstar team in 2019 as a part-time MMJ and fill-in host for the daily digital show 5LIVE on KTLA.  That same year she was also hand-picked by WeTV and the family of late NWA frontman Eric “Eazy-E” Wright to be the investigative journalist for their docu-series “The Mysterious Death Of Eazy-E.”

Currently she is a reporter on the KTLA lifestyle show, “L.A. Unscripted,” and can also be seen doing feature reporting on KTLA Weekend News.
