Angeli Kakade is a general assignment reporter for KTLA 5 having joined the news team in June 2024.
Previously, Angeli was the lead morning reporter at KING 5 in Seattle, where she covered the latest breaking news, world headlines, and events closer to home. She was one of the first reporters on the scene at the Washington/Canada border during the Whatcom County floods of 2021, which displaced 85% of residents.
Her most memorable story in the Pacific Northwest was investigating how chemicals from tires were polluting Washington’s waterways. She tracked down the manufacturers and pushed for accountability on all legal and legislative fronts.
Before working in the Evergreen State, Angeli spent two years reporting in Indianapolis.
Prior to jumping into broadcast news, Angeli spent nearly a decade working in the digital space in New York City. Most recently as a producer and host at the New York Post.
Angeli has an MA in Media Studies from The New School in NYC and a bachelor’s degree in communications from Michigan State University.
When not searching for news stories, Angeli loves to sing, run, watch shark documentaries, and try new vegetarian recipes.
She is new to Southern California and is having a blast exploring the area with her husband and their 15-year-old Boston Terrier.
