CHICAGO (KTLA) – Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, former wife of Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, held a public protest on Friday in Chicago claiming she has been forced “on the streets.”
Funches-Wade could be seen sitting next to a homemade sign in Dwyane Wade’s native Chicago that said “NBA Miami Heat star mother of his children on the streets.”
She claimed she was driven to desperation after losing a series of court battles.
Funches-Wade told the Chicago Tribune she would “live on the streets” as she protested what she called the “injustice” of a failed lawsuit she filed in an effort to get money from her ex-husband’s endorsement deals.
The lawsuit was filed earlier this month against Wade – who signed a six-year contract with the Heat in 2010 worth $107 million.
Court papers filed last week indicate the lawsuit was dropped.
“I don’t want anything, no money, all I want is my freedom and my voice,” Funches-Wade said.
Dwyane Wade, 31, filed for divorce from his wife in 2008. He was awarded full custody of the couple’s two children in 2011.
A representative for the NBA star could not immediately be reached.
