Lauren Lyster

Lauren Lyster is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who is co-anchor of the KTLA 5 Weekend Morning News and a reporter for the station. A Southern California native, she’s proud to cover the issues that matter to the community most. Since 2017 at KTLA, she has covered major news from wildfires to mudslides and mass shootings, doing in-depth stories on issues such as homelessness and sit-down interviews with elected officials like the governor.

Previously, Lauren worked for ABC News based in Los Angeles, reporting for the network’s shows, including “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight,” and for ABC stations across the country. Lauren was the network’s first correspondent on the ground during the breaking news of the Orlando Pulse nightclub terror attack, leading special report coverage from the scene. She received an Emmy Award as part of the breaking news team coverage of the massacre. Her reporting has taken her from hurricanes in Florida to tornadoes in Texas. For ABC stations, her assignments ranged from the San Bernardino terror attack to red carpet award shows such as the Oscars and the 2016 presidential race, including the Democratic National Convention and election night.

Prior to ABC, Lauren was a correspondent at CBS News based in New York, where she often anchored the network’s early morning broadcasts and reported for CBS stations, focused on MoneyWatch reports and consumer news.

Lauren has also worked as a video host and correspondent for Yahoo Finance, where she anchored a live daily show from the Nasdaq MarketSite, reported live during big IPOs such as Twitter and Alibaba, and interviewed newsmakers in the business world.

Lauren graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. She was born and raised in SoCal, originally from Irvine.
