A man confronted his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend, shot them both and then killed himself in the parking lot of a Costco in Chula Vista Monday afternoon, according to KTLA sister station KSWB in San Diego.

The couple was putting groceries into their car outside the warehouse store at 1130 Broadway shortly before 1 p.m., and the woman’s baby was in a stroller next to them when her ex-boyfriend came up to them and began an argument, Chula Vista Police Lt. Dan Peak said.

During the fight, the ex-boyfriend pulled out a handgun and shot woman and her companion several times at close range. He then shot himself, the lieutenant said.

The baby was not harmed.

When officers arrived, they found all three parties suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken by ambulance to UCSD Medical Center.

The shooter was subsequently pronounced dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The second man and woman were undergoing surgery, Peak said.

The names of the gunman and his victims have not been released.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

Authorities are not currently looking for other suspects. “We’re very confident there is one suspect, one shooter — and that person has been pronounced deceased,” Peak said.

The Costco parking lot will remain a crime scene for several hours, Peak said, so people should avoid the area. However, Costco officials said the store would remain open for shoppers during the investigation.

The shooting comes just three days after a fatal shooting at a Costco in Corona. In that incident, an off-duty Los Angeles police officer shot and killed 32-year-old Kenneth French and wounded his parents.

The circumstances of that incident are under investigation. A cousin of French’s told the Los Angeles Times that French was mentally disabled and non-verbal.

On Sunday, a woman was found dead in the parking lot of a Costco in Bakersfield, and police believe she may have been attacked by dogs, local TV station KERO reported.
