Authorities are searching for whoever fatally stabbed one man and left another seriously wounded in Pico Rivera Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred about 1:48 a.m. in the 9900 block of La Docena Lane, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.
Arriving deputies located one stabbing victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was initially said to be found in the San Gabriel riverbed located nearby, but officials later gave an update indicating the victim was found in an area nursery.
Investigators believe there was a confrontation in the nursery that led to the stabbing.
A second victim was found with a stab wound to his upper body and was taken to a local hospital in serious condition, according to the news release.
Witnesses reported seeing two men running south from the location following the incident.
No descriptions of the men were immediately available.
Authorities have not determined if the stabbing was gang related but workers at the nursery told KTLA there is a problem with taggers sometimes coming to the area at night.
No weapon was located at the scene.
Anyone with information was asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 323-890-5500.
