The incident occurred Saturday after owner Jeremy DeNoyer had let 18-week-old Tramp and an older dog named “Lady” go outside, television station KPHO reported.

“My smallest dog Tramp was yelping, and I figured he just wanted to come inside, and when I saw him, I opened up the curtains and he was just swarmed by hundreds of bees,” DeNoyer told KPHO.

When DeNoyer went outside to help, he was swarmed himself by a wall of bees and forced to barricade himself in a laundry room, unable to do anything else for his dogs.

Firefighters eventually arrived, but DeNoyer had more than 20 stings, his dog Lady 50 and Tramp more than 400, according to KPHO.

“With as many stings as he had, he had more than enough to kill 50 percent of dogs his size,” Dr. Cynthia Jones of Alta Vista Animal Hospital said of Tramp.

“He was having muscle tremors all over the place. It looked almost like he was having seizures,” Jones told KPHO.

A friend set up a GoFundMe account to help DeNoyer pay Tramp’s vet bills, which the page said were already hovering around $2,000.
