A 600-acre wildfire burning near a campground in Santa Barbara County was threatening homes and forcing evacuations, fire authorities said.

The Rey Fire was first reported around 3:15 p.m. near the White Rock Campground off Paradise Road, according to InciWeb.

Campgrounds in the Paradise Road area and Los Prietos Boys Camp were ordered evacuated.

As of 9 p.m., the fire was reported to be 20 percent contained.

Engines and crews from the Los Padres National Forest, Santa Barbara County and nearby municipalities were involved in the firefight, according to fire officials.

Two evacuation centers had been set up at Santa Ynez High School and San Marcos High School.

The cause of the fire was unknown.

No injuries were reported.
