Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge’s 32-year-old sister, announced Tuesday she is engaged to marry her boyfriend, James Matthews, a hedge fund manager.

“Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr. James Matthews are delighted to announce they became engaged on Sunday 17th July and plan to marry next year,” the couple said in a statement released by the Press Association.

Middleton is the younger sister of Kate, who married Britain’s Prince William in a glamorous ceremony at Westminster Abbey in April 2011. She was her sister’s bridesmaid and garnered her own headlines with an eye-catching gown.

When asked about Tuesday’s announcement, a representative for Kensington Palace told CNN that “the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are absolutely delighted with the news.”

The Daily Mail reported that Matthews, 40, proposed to Middleton over the weekend in northwest England’s Lake District.
