Two men are being sought after allegedly attempting to kidnap a woman near the dorms at California State University, Northridge, campus police said on Saturday.
The woman was walking at the southeast corner of Lassen Street and Lindley Avenue, near the northwestern corner of the University Park Apartments, when the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. Thursday — a typically busy time for the area, which is heavily traveled by commuters, including those attending the college and multiple nearby schools.
A vehicle approached the victim and traveled slowly as a male passenger talked at her, according to a campus police crime alert.
When the woman ignored him, the passenger exited the vehicle and chased her, according to police.
The woman was able to outrun the man, and made it to a family member who was waiting for her farther down Lassen Street.
She was uninjured and reported the incident the following day to campus police.
The male passenger was described as a Hispanic man in his mid-30s, with a dark complexion, shaved head, slim build, weighing about 130 pounds and standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall, and last seen wearing a white T-shirt and dark blue jeans.
The driver had a similar description and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt.
The vehicle was an older-model, possibly early-1990s, white Toyota Camry with tinted windows and rust spots on its roof.
