An Indiana man accused in the killing of 1-year-old Shaylyn Ammerman faces additional charges in connection with the case, according to KTLA sister station WXIN.

Kyle Parker, 22, is due in court Monday afternoon. Online records show Parker is charged with rape, murder, child molesting, kidnapping, strangulation and aggravated battery in the case.

Last week, Parker was arrested on charges of obstruction of justice, failure to report a dead body and unlawful disposition of a body.

He is accused of kidnapping and raping the girl, using bleach on the toddler’s body to destroy incriminating DNA evidence, and then trying to pin the crime one of her family members, according to newly released court documents obtained by WXIN.

Police took Parker into custody on Thursday, the same day they found the 14-month-old’s body near the White River in Gosport.

An autopsy showed the girl died from asphyxiation, and that she had injuries all over her body that were consistent with a sexual assault.

Dr. Donna Stewart, who performed the autopsy on Shaylyn, told investigators that this was “the worst case of sexual trauma she had seen in her career.”

According to WXIN, the little girl suffered multiple hemorrhages to her face, a laceration on her upper left lip and a contusion on her lower left lip.

Sahylyn also “suffered from multiple cutaneous abrasions and contusions to multiple body regions,” and had severe trauma to her genital region, the station reported.

Parker was at the Ammerman home the night Shaylyn disappeared. Her family reported her missing Wednesday morning.

Her father said his mother put Shaylyn to bed late Tuesday; when they woke up in the morning, she was gone.

The little girl was alive and clothed when she was allegedly taken from the home by Parker. He placed the small child in the car and drove away, eventually pulling over to the side of a road where he is suspected of sexually assaulting her, the station reported.

She was smothered by the suspect with “some type of cloth that he already had in the vehicle,” according to the court documents. court documents.

He then allegedly poured bleach on Shaylyn’s body and on his own to conceal any traces of his DNA, WXIN reported. Her clothes and pacifier were burned.

The family said Parker initially said he didn’t know anything about Shaylyn’s disappearance.

“You know that you did it and then be so straight, and calm, and cool and just lie for a day. A whole 24 hours of lying, when you knew where that baby was,” said Tammy Morgan, Shaylyn’s grandmother.

Parker “drank a lot” and would “often get naked when drunk,” the suspect’s friends said, according to WXIN. They also said he was “attracted to younger girls in the 12- to 14-year-old range.”

Parker’s mother, Christina Patton, released a statement about her son’s arrest in the case:

“Our hearts are heavy and filled with grief over this beautiful little girl’s passing. It is a difficult time for all families involved.”

Parker’s sister, Bree Smith, released a statement Monday:

“It is awful my heart is broken, I pray to God my brother didn’t do it. I love my brother, I’m in shock and I just can’t believe any of these charges… I’m so upset”

Shaylyn’s funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at the Christian Life Center in Spencer. Visitation will be held starting at 3 p.m. A private burial will be held at Chambersville Cemetery.
