A four-mile route between Pacoima and Panorama City will be closed to traffic Sunday to make room for CicLAvia, the popular bicycle festival that has been held more than a dozen times throughout Los Angeles.

Weather permitting, thousands of people are expected to turn out for the event, which will stretch along Van Nuys Boulevard between San Fernando Road and Roscoe Boulevard.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the route will belong to bicyclists, pedestrians, skaters and others interested in spending time with their families, friends and neighbors.

Mayor Eric Garcetti, local leaders and actor Danny Trejo, who has starred in such films as “Heat” and “Con Air,” will kick off the event at 8:30 a.m.
