An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.9 struck in the San Bernardino mountains early Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor hit at 1:24 a.m. about 3 miles north northwest of Big Bear City.

Weak shaking from the quake was felt as far away as Palmdale, Murrietta and Fallbrook, according to the USGS.

There were no initial reports of any injuries or damage as a result of the quake.
