Two people were killed just a few miles apart in separate incidents on the northbound 57 Freeway in Orange County Wednesday morning.

A SigAlert was initially issued at 2:30 a.m. for a traffic collision on the northbound 57 Freeway just south of Imperial Highway, according to the fatal ‘s incident log.

A woman had apparently jumped onto the freeway from the Imperial Highway overpass and was fatally struck by several vehicles, the Brea Police Department posted on their Twitter feed.

About 30 minutes later, a vehicle crashed into the back of a big rig in the northbound lanes of the freeway near the Yorba Linda Boulevard offramp, according to the CHP.

Coroners officials were called to the scene following the crash, the incident log stated.

All lanes except the carpool lane were closed due to the investigation, according to the CHP.

Aerial video from Sky5 showed morning traffic backed up for miles in the area.
