A man accused of “luring” a female acquaintance to his place, and then torturing and assaulting her for a period of several hours, was arrested after being tracked down by a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department K-9, authorities said on Monday.

Deputies from the Victor Valley station received a report of a kidnapping at about 8:45 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Department.

The victim alleged that an acquaintance “lured” her to his house, tied her up and held her captive, the release said. She told investigators that he then tortured and assaulted her for several hours.

Eventually, the suspect took the victim back to her home, and she immediately called authorities, sheriff’s officials said in the release.

After deputies arrived at her home, the woman pointed out the suspects footprint in the desert, showing them where he had fled on foot. They followed the tracks for several hundred yards before the footprints disappeared.

Sheriff’s K-9 Ellie was brought out to the scene, and was able to acquire his trail. Ellie followed it for approximately one mile to a residence in the 11800 block of Midway Road, according to the release.

She showed interest in a motorhome on the property, where the suspect — identified as 34-year-old David Ignacio Siova —  was found to be hiding, the Sheriff’s Department said. The Lucerne Valley resident was taken into custody without incident.

Siova was booked into jail and was being held without bail.
