Authorities obtained a search warrant at the home in the 3500 block of Strang Avenue after identifying Tien Hua as a suspect in Sunday’s fatal shooting of Henry Estrada in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Marlon Marrache said.

Estrada was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on a street in the Hollywood Hills and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Tien Hua, which is the suspect, did target and basically run and gun down Henry Estrada,” Marrache said.

Tuesday’s standoff occurred when authorities arrived at the Rosemead home and attempted to serve the search warrant for Hua.

“When we arrived, we attempted to serve and execute that warrant. But it was at that time that the suspect decided to barricade himself,” Marrache said.

A SWAT team was called to the location and crises negotiators made several unsuccessful attempts to end the standoff peacefully.

“We then decided to deploy the teargas … to get the suspect to come out. Again, with the ultimate goal being to have a peaceful conclusion,” Marrache said.

However, no one exited the home.

“SWAT members from the LAPD decided to go inside the house, made contact with the suspect, and that’s when an officer involved shooting occurred,” Marrache said, adding that the suspect died at the scene.

During the standoff, which Marrache said lasted six or seven hours, police stated the suspect was considered to be armed, but have not indicated if any weapons were found at the scene.

No intent or motive has been determined in the shooting death of Estrada, who family members said was a father of two.

Estrada’s sister has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral expenses.
