A rosary and viewing service for slain Downey police Officer Ricardo “Ricky” Galvez is Sunday night, followed by funeral services Monday morning. He is the first officer to be gunned down in Downey Police Department history.

Galvez, 29, was killed the night of Nov. 18. He was sitting in his BMW in a parking lot next to Downey police headquarters when two people walked up and fatally shot him, investigators have said.

Galvez’s rosary and viewing service will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Downey Civic Theatre. Doors open at 5 p.m., according to the Downey Police Department.

His funeral service is to begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles, immediately followed by a graveside service at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
